Not a complicated recipe, but it turns out a superior loaf of white bread.
Buttermilk white bread. Ingredients 1-1/2 cup buttermilk 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup warm, non-chlorinated water 1/4 cup white sugar 1/2 tsp baking soda 2 tsp salt 5 tsp active dry yeast @5 cups bread flour Directions Mix warm water and yeast and set aside for @twenty minutes. Whisk together flour, salt, sugar and baking soda in a large mixing bowl. Warm up buttermilk melt butter, and stir into buttermilk Make well in center of flour and pour yeast/water and buttermilk/butter into it. stir to bring together turn out onto floured surface and knead for 2-3 minutes. seal into oiled zip-loc bag for @20 minutes to allow autolysis. Knead for 10 to 15 minutes then reseal in bag and let rest until doubled in size. punch down dough and shape as desired. Let rest until doubled in size. Bake in 360 degree oven until internal temp is @185-190 (takes mine @45 minutes). You wouldn't believe how well this stuff toasts!
